This book provides brief description of the influence of both environmental and geotechnical factors over the state of open-pit mine slopes as well as the state of structures formed by the mine dump materials. It further analyses the investigations j;§rried out to establish the influence of these factors over the stability of these structures including the hydraulically filled dump sites and the tailings dams. It also provides theoretical aspects of the geomechanical process that take place in the open-pit mine slopes and in the mine dump sites.

The book also analyses the technological and special activities that directly influence over the state of these objects. In this connection, the geomechanical control over the stability of open-pit mine slopes and the associated dump sites are further analysed. The methodology and the analysis given in this book will assist to understand the geomechanical influences during the formation as well as during the reclamation of these structures. Hence, it will provide necessary guidelines for the protection of environment and the industrial safety.

This book is specifically designed for the undergraduate students in mining engineering specialties as well as for the postgraduate students with firm grasp of the fundamentals of geomechanics.

Im Buch werden naturgeologische und technologische Faktoren behandelt, die den Zustand von Tagebaurand- und Kippenmassiven bestimmen. Auch werden Stdrungen der Standfestigkeit von Tagebaurandbdschungen, Dammkippen und Ringdammen von SpQlkippen und RQckstandshalden analysiert. Es werden theoretische Grundlagen und Ingenieurverfahren zur Prognostizierung geomechanischer Prozesse, einer Berechnung der Standfestigkeit von Tagebaurandbdschungen dargelegt, technologische und spezielle MaBnahmen zur gerichteten Zustandsanderung des Massivs sowie Methoden und Mittel einer geomechanischen t)berwachung im Tagebau beschrieben. Dariiber hinaus werden Probleme einer geomechanischen BegrQndung der Technologie der Formierung und Rekultivierung von Dammkippen und bergtechnischen SpQlanlagen unter BerQcksichtigung der industriellen und Okologischen Sicherheit beleuchtet.
